Motorola unveiled the Moto G6 back in April. The phone ships with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, but Motorola has already confirmed that the phone will receive the Android Pie update.
The current expected release date is Q1 2019, which is unfortunately still months away. So if you own a Moto G6 you’re in for a pretty long wait.

Thankfully, the developer community has already served up an alternative for those who want to give Android Pie a try on their Moto G6. XDA Developers member, secuflag is offering an AOSP 9.0 Pie ROM up for download. Yet, he warns, this is a WIP, so there’s still plenty of work to be done.
The developer has made a list of things that work including RIL, SMS, Camera, Wi-Fi, Mobile data, Bluetooth and Root. However, features like NFC, Dolby Audio, FM Radio and fingerprint are currently non-functional.

So if you want to install the ROM, do so at your own risk. And keep in mind that some things might not work once the Android Pie ROM is on your device.
This is, of course, a task for those of you who have a rooted Moto G6 at your disposal. If you are not familiar with the process or rooting a smartphone, we recommend you wait for the official release.
